I understand that any Island Dog Rescue (IDR) animal that I foster is the exclusive property of IDR and that I must return the animal immediately when asked.
If I wish to adopt a foster in my care, I will follow the adoption protocol, pay the required adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. I understand that IDR has the right to approve or deny my request to adopt.
I agree to follow the decompression instructions I have been given by IDR. The first 24-48 hours after arriving on transport or transition between foster homes/ to a new environment will be recognized as the decompression period.
I agree that any foster from IDR will reside INSIDE my home. I will provide ample fresh water, quality dog food, exercise, affection, basic training, and if required, emergency medical attention.
I agree to provide shelter, food, basic training/ socializing and love as well as basic necessities such as well fitting harness and leash. Prior approval from IDR is required for reimbursement of any expenses. At times, IDR does have donated items that can be shared with fosters.
If an IDR foster in my care requires medical attention, I will contact IDR immediately. I understand that IDR will only pay for approved medical expenses.
I understand that at NO TIME can a foster visit a dog park, pet store, preschool or other public venue. This is a liability issue.
I will maintain the security of all doors, fences, and gates to the best of my ability. Should the foster become lost, I will contact an IDR representative IMMEDIATELY.
I will provide the IDR representative with pictures and information to post on IDR social media. I will provide updates and observations to help find the appropriate match for adoption. I agree to "advertise" my foster via social media and personal connections.
IDR does not allow or condone the use of electronic collars or physical punishment. We believe in positive reinforcement training and have resources to help with training issues should they arise.
I certify that I am at least 21 years of age and either a primary owner my home or have written permission from my landlord to have pets. I understand that IDR may verify this information using public records or may contact the landlord for verification.

I agree to release and hold harmless IDR and its volunteers from any claims, damages, costs or actions incurred as a result of the actions of the foster while in my care.
Neither I nor anyone living within the household or regular visitor to the household has ever been convicted of animal cruelty, animal neglect or abandonment, or other animal welfare related offenses.
